AI is being developed to replace our Brains and how we think!!

I shared with all of you how AI will begin to take over the world.

This week as I researched the updated information on AI, the update involved how Elon Musk had invested in the AI technology to replace our brains.

See Below:

The other report I found involved the Military investing in the AI technology and putting it into use with our Soldiers?

See Below:

Here is my thoughts on the subjects above...

First of all,
When the military begins to invest heavily in a new Software platform or a new technology, then this newest technology is HERE TO STAY....

Second...

If Elon Musk is investing Heavily into the AI technology, then once again it is HERE TO STAY..

Will there be any limits to what the technology can do?

We already know that Alexa and other new tech features utilize AI, but where will we as humans place limitations on this new technology?

Classrooms, Operating rooms, our Cellphones, Our Living room Televisions? Will there be any privacy in the future?

Or will we be just as the (George Orwell 1984) book implies?

Let me know your thoughts.

  1. Tony,

This is a very interesting subject. I read a book not too long ago about this. I won't say which book because I am about to spoil the ending. Anyway, a scientist determines that man is doomed because of the evolution of AI. The scientist's theory basically said we evolve with AI until very little of our humanity or even physical body exist, thus making humankind extinct. The central character and secret bad guy was an AI computer. Thanks for the post.

As I read and research this technology on a daily basis, I am finding that we just might be headed in the direction of your book. We as a generation are becoming reliant on technology in our daily lives.
Driving (GPS), Email, Alexa, Smart TV's, everything is starting to have this new AI technology, thus proving that the BOOK ending may not be too far from happening.

  2. Tony,

Another interesting read about AI. After reading the article it made me think about this technology. Do we need super robots? Is AI going to think for us? Is AI going to control are lives? To me this is kind of scary. In the article it said Mr. Musk has backed away from his AI startup and is vocal about the risk AI poses. He even said that it is a greater risk than nuclear weapons. I see future terminators being develop. Technology is great but we must control it and not let it control us. Are we going to live like this video someday?

    1. Mark,
I watched your video on the movie (Surrogates) and you are SPOT ON!!
Indeed, we are headed in this direction. Robots and AI are combining the technologies and there is no other direction we can be headed towards.
It is scary, but the truth is that the next step is robotics/artificial intelligence. I am pretty sure that we will see it in our time, but we might be on our last leg as the robots become part of our daily lives and can perform actions just as humans.

  3. Tony,

Interesting read and topic. It is scary to thing a robot can know more than humans and can do more than humans. I saw the video that Mark posted and maybe some day in the future the technology will be available to live with AI humans.

    1. Billy,

I really do not want to be alive to watch the combination of these two technologies.
I believe that once these technologies come together, it will be pretty hard to stop them once the development of AI becomes set free to roam in a robotic brain.

  4. Tony,

Very interesting and thought provoking topic when it comes to AI and humans. I do believe AI is here to stay, but as you stated "when are we going to place limitations on AI." One movies comes to mind "iRobot" with Will Smith where AI was created to be like humans and pretty much do everything for us. However, at what costs? Again pretty interesting stuff you got here- your topic and blogs are provocative, yet very thought provoking.

    1. Nick,

If your asking me this question, I will give you my opinion:

I believe that the innocent invention of the AI technology will be invented, and robotics will also be created with no ill intentions.
      THEN,
I believe that when these two are integrated, the technology will begin to learn on its own, and if it has its own body (as in the movies), it will start to do things on its own.
Once the thinking occurs naturally for the robots that have AI incorporated inside of them, then it will be TOO LATE to stop them from taking over certain actions we perform as humans.

  5. Hi Tony,

I agree, it appears AI is here to stay. Regarding your thought on where we draw the line with AI, I beleive that's a decision that needs to be backed by large scale research. By that, I mean efforts need to be made in a methodical, documented process that considers a representative sample of the human population. Who better to define that distinguishing line between people and machines than people? In my opinion, this definition should not be ar arbitrary, but backed by research and validated with duplicated results.

I agree with Nick. This is definitely a though provoking topic!

  6. Jorge,

Your comments are in line with the thoughts of many scholars.
There seems to be a disconnect between the research world, and reality.

    Let me explain,

As we continue to evolve with Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, our future seems inevitable.
Where exactly we are headed begins to be clearer with every year that passes. Technological advances with these two technologies will one day be combined, and it will have its own ability to think on its own.

    Reality:

As we invent the new combined Robotics & Artificial Intelligence (Software combination with hardware), this will take on a life of its own.
I know you have watched plenty of movies, so I will spare you my thoughts. I see this technology taking on new roles, such as teaching, driving (Tesla), Blue collar jobs (Agricultural), but once this occurs (In our lifetime), when do you shut it down?
Will there be a shut off option?

Lets take the internet as an example....

Can the actual internet be SHUT OFF?

I remember in the late 1980's and early 1990's when the internet was being developed. We could turn away and ignore the online chatter, but these days it has made it's way into our Living rooms, kitchens, Vehicles, etc.... There seems to be no way to shut the internet off.

What happens with the Artificial Intelligence & Robotics when it cannot be shut off?
This is why I mentioned there is a disconnect between reality and research..... Someone needs to be thinking about the future...

Let me know your thoughts,,,, And Thank you for stopping by Jorge. I see the Degree helped you out... Very good use of grammar... LOL.

I hope you liked my blog.

  7. Hi Tony,

I feel that machine intelligence has made our lives easier than it was for our ancestors. However, as a school teacher, I worry that too much AI is having a negative impact on the social development of our little ones. While children as early as the age of 2 can swipe and drive an iPad, etc., they are starting school with less and less social skills.
On another note, I fear if too much AI will truly lead to what the bible says in Revelations Chapter 13 regarding the "mark of the beast." Perhaps, I'm old fashioned and miss many norms of the past that today AI has put at our fingertips, eliminating the fun in doing some human daily tasks for ourselves.

Great conversation starter for my next family gathering!

    Kindly,

  8. Aloha,

AI is starting to become a very real and scary thing. As humans, we always look to find an easier way to do something whether it be by a new invention or new procedure. However, in terms of AI, I believe we are making a mistake by allowing AI to control our every day lives. I read in your article that Elon Musk is even aware of these dangers and is attempting to put limitations on this technology. I think the question everyone should ask is how long will it take for AI to learn how to bypass programs put in place to limit them.

    1. Mr. Isaac,

You bring up a very good point...

This is my concern! AI once developed, will evolve, will learn, and when the time is right, (will take over).

I think we are developing technology without knowing the repercussions of what the future might entail.

Personally, I know we as humans need to evolve.
Without evolving, we would still be living in the caves as the barbarians once lived. In my lifetime, I have witnessed a life with no computers, to a life with computers at every turn. There was no internet, and Now we have internet all over the place within an arms reach.

We can't stop the invention of new technologies, but I do think we can place limits on its abilities to manipulate our lives.

      Good comment,

  9. Mrs Pimentel,

I agree with your statement "made our lives easier than it was for our ancestors", but I am wondering at what cost?

You are absolutely correct about the human development aspect in regards to the psychological development of children. Children at all ages are beginning to have behaviorism changes with direct impacts to our cognitive state. The normal interpersonal communicative skills are being lost to the technological aspect of our (computers or devices).

SO, yes,,,, There is a definite impact to the development of social skills...

    Next,
You commented about "Revelations chapter 13 regarding the mark of the beast".

I am no stranger to this information, so I have went ahead and performed more research and have placed a link for you at the end of this blog for you to peruse and learn a little more about where I believe these two technologies are taking us in our near future.

To sum up the conversation,,, I believe that the chip will be (eventually) inserted within our bodies. See the video for more information...

  10. Tony,

I agree with many of the other commenters about how AI looks like it's here and it is going to stay for the long run also how we still need to learn more about it. As a society we continue to make many advances but trial and error is something very real. I do also like how someone such as Mr. Musk said that AI can be a very disturbing topic to bring to the table it is gets into the hands of the wrong person. I do think it can play a major role to help build the future with many different topics like education and military purposes to continue the mission just to name a few. Overall great work Tony keep it up!!

    Best regards, Gabe A.

  11. Mr. Gabe,

Although we have good intentions for the technology such as (AI), eventually someone will use it for their own purposes.

The question I posed to others on this blog is as follows:

When AI becomes global, How will we have the ability to shut it down? or Will their be an ability to shut it down?

    Lastly,

Who will possess the so called (Magic switch) to shut it down if it were to go rogue...

These are the questions we need to be researching before we continue to develop and integrate these technologies.

Thanks for stopping by at my blog.
